A 1976 graduate of Illinois State, was a teammate of ISU Hall of Famer D.A. Weibring on the Redbird golf team … began his career in 1977 at WCIA-TV in Champaign, Illinois, where he was a sports director for seven years before joining the WGN-TV sports staff in February 1984 … he currently holds the role of weekday sports anchor at 6 and 9 and co-hosts with Jarrett Payton on GN Sports, WGN's nightly 30-minute show at 10:30 p.m. … in over 30 years at WGN, has hosted and co-produced pregame and halftime shows for NBA and Major League Baseball telecasts and has been a substitute play-by-play announcer for Bulls, Cubs and White Sox games on the station … was also the lead announcer for WGN's telecasts of DePaul basketball and worked play-by-play on the station's Notre Dame football telecasts in 1988, when the fighting Irish won a national championship … has been recognized with numerous awards during his time at WGN, winning multiple Emmy awards for his work as host, producer, reporter, and play-by-play announcer … in 1994, he won three Emmy Awards for sports-related programming … was honored as a 2009-10 Illinois State University College of Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame selection and was inducted into the TV-10 Hall of Fame in 2019 … previously served as an advisory board member of the College of Arts and Sciences Chicago chapter and ISU's School of Communication … most recently was honored with the 2020 Ring Lardner Award for Excellence in Sports Journalism.
