Four-year letterwinner ... had a career low round of 65, and finished his career with a stroke average of 72.9 ... captained the 1949 team ... after leading Illinois State to the 1950 Interstate Conference title, he then became coach at Western Illinois, where he would serve for 35 seasons ... won national championships in 1959 and 1962 ... his 1971 team finished the season unbeaten (24-0-1) ... had a streak of 95-straight home victories that lasted from 1952-1970 ... inducted into the Western Illinois Hall of Fame in 1988 and was given the Western Illinois Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1989 ... Western Illinois's golf course was renamed in his honor ... passed away in 1998.
