Coached basketball for 13 seasons at Illinois State (1957-70) ... won four Interstate Conference championships, seven postseason tournament bids, and had 209-139 record ... his career college coaching record was 327-220 ... his 1967 team finished fourth in the NCAA College Division Tournament at Evansville, Ind., and had the then-best record in school history (25-3) ... coached ISU's first College Division All-America first-team selection (Jerry McGreal) ... was named Illinois Coach of the Year following the 1958-59 season, when ISU won league and District 20 NAIA titles ... his 1968 squad ranked third nationally with a 25-3 record ... won five Prairie Conference titles in as many years at McKendree College, and coached at Friends University (Wichita, Kan.) ... a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame ... following his resignation in 1970, served as ISU's coordinator of school and college relations in the Office of Admissions ... still has a fully-endowed scholarship in his name given to an active ISU basketball player every summer ... passed away at the age of 84.
