Three-year baseball letterwinner ... member of 1976 team that was the first to qualify for Division I postseason play ... led the Redbirds in RBI in 1977 and 1978 ... drafted in the 10th round by the Montreal Expos ... was a double-A all-star in 1980 and a triple-A all-star in 1982 and 1983 ... enjoyed major league stints from 1981-83, predominately as a back-up catcher ... in 1984, was traded to Houston.
