The sixth ranked Illinois State Women's golf team competes in the Missouri Valley Conference Championship Sunday at par-72 Harborside International Golf Center in Chicago, Ill., hosted by Loyola. Sunday's opening round of the 54-hole tournament will tee off at 10 a.m., while Monday and Tuesday's rounds will tee off at 8:30a.m.
"We have an incredible opportunity in front of us to compete in an MVC Championship so close to home," said Illinois State head coach Darby Sligh. "Three of our starting five are from the Chicagoland area, so it's exciting for them to see the skyline as they play. Beyond feeling at home, we need a solid round tomorrow to get our foot in the door. I'm looking for this team to be patient and play like they have trained the last week."
Representing the Redbirds are Kiley Walsh, Courtnee Cossell, Abby Luchtenburg, Renee Solberg, and Caitlin Sims.
The winner of the MVC Championship will advance to one of four NCAA Regionals which will be held May 5-7.
