ST. LOUIS – A program-high five Illinois State men's tennis players – Andreas Boers, Jakub Eisner, Christoffer Greve, Dylan Steffens and Rolando Torrellas – earned spots on the 11-player 2016 Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team, the league office announced Tuesday.
ISU's five MVC Scholar-Athlete Team honorees – more than any other Valley program – passed the previous team high of three selections in 2014 and 2015. The Redbird men's tennis squad earned a combined grade-point average (GPA) of 3.15 during the fall semester, which marked the highest GPA among Illinois State men's programs. Below is a description of each Redbird selected to the MVC Scholar-Athlete Team.
Andreas Boers, Illinois State, So., Holte, Denmark, 3.75 GPA, Business Administration
Has an overall singles record of 12-17 and a spring singles record of 8-12 … Has an overall doubles record of 9-18 and a spring doubles record of 8-13 … Is 1-1 in MVC singles and 2-1 in MVC doubles … Teamed up with Jakub Eisner to upset Wichita State's No. 87 ranked doubles team of Jocelyn Devilliers and Tin Ostojic.
