NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State softball team snapped a six-game Missouri Valley Conference losing streak last weekend against Wichita State, and will look to continue its winning ways this weekend against Indiana State. The Redbirds and Sycamores will play a three-game series Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's doubleheader will now begin at 12:30 p.m. due to cold temperatures in the morning.
Illinois State (10-24, 2-6 MVC) is coming off of a 7-1 loss to Illinois Tuesday night at Marian Kneer Stadium. The Redbirds were no-hit through the first four innings and fell to the Illini for the third-straight year.
Illinois State has scored 32 runs in MVC play, aided by a quartet of hitters batting over .300. Riley Strandgard leads the team with a .435 batting average in Valley play, while Jordan de los Reyes (.364), Payton Billups (.350) and Lauren Prader (.313) are all over the .300 mark as well.
The Redbirds are attempting to win two-straight Valley games for the first time this season. First pitch Saturday is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. with game two set to begin at approximately 2:30 p.m. Sunday's finale will begin at noon.

Series History
Illinois State has dominated the series against Indiana State, holding a 78-16 all-time record against the Sycamores. Last season, the Redbirds won two of three games at Indiana State and scored 21 runs in the process. Illinois State also won two of three the last time the two teams played in Normal. The Redbirds have won eight of the last 10 matchups.

The Illinois State softball team will host Dad/Daughter Weekend this Saturday and Sunday. Dads are invited to bring their daughters to each game and the first 75 dad and daughter pairs to show up will receive a free softball hair bow on April 9. Sugar cookies will be sold for $1 all weekend long at the concession stand and on Sunday there will be post-game autographs and kids will be invited to run the bases.
