NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Redbirds are hitting the road to take on their in-state rivals, the Northwestern Wildcats, and all Illinois State alumni and friends are invited to help cheer on the 'Birds.
Redbird Tailgate
Before the game, join the Illinois State University Alumni Association and Redbird Athletics for a fun tailgate and pep rally at Canal Shores Golf Course. Don't miss this opportunity to meet many of Illinois State University's top administrators, network with alumni and friends and enjoy some Redbird football!
When: 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10
Where: Canal Shores Golf Course, 1030 Central Street, Evanston
Cost of the tailgate is $40 and includes a lunch buffet from Ten Mile House, beer, wine and non-alcoholic beverages. Space will go fast! Register by Tuesday, Aug. 30 or until capacity is reached online at Alumni.IllinoisState.edu/NWTailgate or contact Alumni Relations at (309) 438-2586 or (800) 366-4478.
Parking is very limited around Northwestern's Ryan Field. Spaces are available through Illinois State Alumni Relations for advanced purchase at $30 per vehicle on the 12th hole of Canal Shores Golf Course, directly across from the tailgate. Registration for the tailgate is required in order to purchase a parking space. Parking spaces are first-come, first serve. Parking passes can be purchased by calling Alumni Relations directly at (309) 438-2586 or (800) 366-4478. Canal Shores is also located steps from the CTA purple line Central Station stop with train service available every 12 to 14 minutes.
Football Tickets
Be sure to purchase your game tickets now to join the Illinois State section and cheer the Redbirds onto victory! Game tickets are $40 and seat locations will be allocated by Priority Points using established Weisbecker Scholarship Fund guidelines. Kickoff is at 2:30 p.m. at Ryan Field, about a seven-minute walk from the tailgate location.
Hotel Accommodations
For those wishing to stay overnight close to the activities, recommended hotels include the Doubletree Hotel & Conference Center-Chicago North Shore (room rates begin at $199 + tax) or the Hampton Inn & Suites Chicago-North Shore/Skokie (room rates begin at $179 + tax).
