Redbird Swimming Travels to USA Swimming Winter Nationals

NORMAL, Ill. – Two members of the Illinois State swimming team will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the 2017 USA Swimming Winter Nationals on Friday.

Rachel Holm and Jensen Keck will make the trip for the Redbirds. Holm and Keck will compete in the 100-yard breaststroke event on Friday. The USA Swimming Winter Nationals will run Wednesday through Saturday.

The Illinois State swimmers will return to the water following a third-place finish at the Bearcat Midseason Invitational, where Keck won two individual events and three broke school records. Keck broke the 50- (29.23), 100- (1:02.40) and 200-yard (2:16.51) breaststroke records, while qualifying for an NCAA B cut with her time in the 100-yard breaststroke.

"I'm really excited to have two swimmers qualify for a meet like this," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "It'll provide some exposure for our team and our school, and it's a great opportunity to compete against some really high level competition. I'm really looking forward to watching them go out there and compete."

The Redbird swimming and diving team will return to action against Northern Iowa, Friday, Jan. 19, at Horton Pool.
