Volleyball Alum Orrick Set for LLCC Hall of Fame Induction

NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State volleyball alum Emily Orrick will be inducted into the Lincoln Land Community College Athletics Hall of Fame at halftime of an LLCC men's basketball game Saturday in Springfield, Illinois.

Orrick starred for the Loggers for two years (2011-12) before two standout seasons for the Redbirds (2013-14). Orrick was a two-time National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-American at Lincoln Land as she led her team and the entire NJCAA in digs both years. Playing for head coach Jim Dietz, she still holds the LLCC career and season digs records.

"It's pretty cool. I was shocked when I heard the news. It had never really crossed my mind as something that would happen," Orrick said. "It's definitely an honor and something I'm looking forward to."

At Illinois State, Orrick was a two-time Missouri Valley Conference Libero of the Year and All-MVC First-Team selection. She set Illinois State's single-season digs and digs per set records as a senior, while helping the Redbirds to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. She also earned American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) First-Team All-Region and All-America Honorable Mention honors following her final collegiate season.

Orrick was also named to the AFNI and MVC academic honor rolls during her time at Illinois State, and was a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award as a senior.

A native of Mackinaw, Illinois, Orrick will be joined by her parents, Tom and Karen Orrick, and grandfather, Lou Orrick, for Saturday's induction.

A 2015 graduate of Illinois State, Orrick currently works at Acclaim Resource Partners in Bloomington, Illinois, and serves as a coach for Illini Elite Volleyball Club.
