Lee, Hawkins, McIntosh and Muller Honored by NABC

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Senior guard Paris Lee was named to the five-player All-National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) District 16 (Missouri Valley Conference) First Team, and head coach Dan Muller earned NABC District 16 coach of the year honors, the NABC announced Wednesday.

Additionally, senior forward Deontae Hawkins and junior forward MiKyle McIntosh were both named to the five-player All-NABC District 16 Second Team. The awards are selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC in NCAA Division I.

Paris Lee: All-NABC First Team
Led the MVC and ranks 51st nationally with 1.9 steals per game … led the MVC and ranks 50th nationally with 5.0 assists per game … led the team and ranked second in the league in three-point field goals made per game, with 2.3 … ranked second on the team and 10th in the MVC in scoring, with 13.0 points per game … led the team and ranked ninth in the MVC in free throw shooting percentage (78.4 percent) … is ISU's first All-NABC First Team District 16 selection since Jackie Carmichael in 2013 … is the nation's active career steals leader and holds ISU's program record, with 248 steals … ranks fourth in ISU career assists, with 495 … started all 35 games to set the program starts record (132)  … ranks 21st on ISU's career scoring list, with 1,268 points … is the second player in Redbird history to earn 1,000 points, 400 assists and 200 steals … also named: MVC Larry Bird Player of the Year, MVC Defensive Player of the Year, All-MVC First Team selection, MVC All-Defensive Team selection, MVC All-Tournament Team selection.

Deontae Hawkins: All-NABC Second Team
Led the team and ranked ninth in the MVC in scoring, with 14.0 points per game … led the team and ranked sixth in the MVC in rebounding, with 6.5 rebounds per game … led the team and ranked second in the MVC in three-point shooting percentage (44.3 percent) … ranked second on the team and tied for sixth in the MVC in three-point field goals made per game, with 2.0 … started all 35 games … reached double-figure scoring a team-best 28 times … recorded a team-best five double-doubles ... scored 1,007 career points … also named to the All-MVC Second Team and the MVC Most-Improved Team.

MiKyle McIntosh: All-NABC Second Team
Ranked third on the team and 15th in the MVC in scoring, with 12.5 points per game … ranked third on the team and 12th in the MVC in rebounding, with 5.6 rebounds per game … ranked second on the team and 10th in the MVC in free throw shooting percentage (76.3 percent) … ranked third on the team and ninth in the MVC in blocked shots per game, with 0.9 … reached double-figure scoring in 17 games … scored a career-high 31 points – the most by a Redbird this season – at Indiana State (Jan. 7) … also named to the All-MVC Second Team.

Dan Muller: NABC District 16 coach of the year
Led the Redbirds to a share of the 2017 MVC regular-season title, which was their first since he helped ISU win the Valley championship as a player in 1998 … has led Illinois State to a better MVC record and higher conference finish in each of his five years as head coach ... guided the Redbirds to program bests in MVC wins (17), regular-season victories (25) and overall triumphs (28) … under Muller's direction, ISU earned a No. 1 seed to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) for the first time in program history, and the Redbirds won their first-round game versus UC Irvine (March 15) before falling in the second round to UCF (March 20) … also named MVC Coach of the Year.
