Channel Your Inner Spack At The Spack Stache Bash

NORMAL, Ill. – Redbird fans will have the opportunity to channel their inner Brock Spack and celebrate at the second-annual Spack Stache Bash prior to the season-opening Sept. 2 football game versus Butler at Hancock Stadium.

From 3:30-6:30 p.m., fans are encouraged to head to the G-82 parking lot north of Horton Field House and adjacent to the track for a special pregame tailgate party that is free and open to all fans in attendance. The Spack Stache Bash will be held in conjunction with partners Lakeshore Beverage, Zoo Lady Face Painting, Denny's Doughnuts, Avanti's, Fun on the Run Inflatables and Illinois State Campus Recreation. The tailgate will feature seating, big screen televisions to watch all of the day's college football action, facepainting, inflatable attractions, food samples and music provided by a DJ.

Other activities that day include a Youth Cheer Clinic and a Brock Spack bobblehead giveaway to 2,000 lucky fans. Illinois State Athletics and Reggie's Kids Club will host the cheer clinic, and the $20 registration for the clinic includes a game ticket, a Papa John's Pizza dinner and pompoms to use at a special halftime performance.  The Cheer Clinic is open to boys and girls ages 4-12, and advanced registration is due by Friday, Sept. 1. Additional game tickets for family and friends may be purchased for $25.  Seats are reserved in section 108 while supplies last.

Participants are encouraged to wear red or Illinois State gear to the clinic and bring their own water bottle. Check in and registration will begin at 3:30 p.m., with the clinic set to start at 4 p.m. at Horton Field House.  For more information or to book a spot for the cheer clinic, contact the Redbird Sales Team at (309) 438-8000 ext. 2.

The first 6,000 fans through the gates at Hancock Stadium prior to the 6:30 p.m. kickoff will receive a scratch off ticket. A total of 2,000 of those will result in ISU head coach Brock Spack bobbleheads being given to lucky fans with winning tickets. The bobblehead giveaway is the fourth Illinois State Athletics has commissioned in recent years, but the first for a Redbird head coach.  Halftime of the football game will feature a fireworks presentation to celebrate the beginning of the 2017 football season.
