GoRedbirds.com: lSU has won two of the last four MVC titles and has a trio of players coming back so what are some goals you're looking at in the upcoming season?
Ben Murphy: First of all, definitely regaining the title. We also hope to advance out of (NCAA) Regionals and into the NCAA Championship.
GR: If you could play golf with four people in the world, past or present, who would they be? In other words, what is your dream foursome?
BM: Well, I have to include Tiger and also (John) Daly. He's my favorite player. I'd also take my dad along because that would be cool for him to experience too.

GR: What are some of your hobbies, Ben? What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
BM: Mostly just playing sports. I play a lot of sports just for fun usually. I also work out a little, then just practice golf above all.
GR: Do you have any superstitions or rituals before each match?
BM: No, I wouldn't call them superstitions. I just do the same thing before each match. I hit some balls on the range, hit a few putts and then I am ready to go.
GR: Do you have a favorite club?
BM: Well, I used to have a favorite club but I don't use it anymore. We (teammates) called it "the boot," because it looked like a boot, since it was a hybrid. That used to be my favorite club, but I don't know what it is now.
GR: What made you want to play for Illinois State?
BM: I really wanted to stay close to home, and I also knew a few guys that were already on the team that I had played with a lot. My buddy, Matt Ryba, is on the team and we went to high school together. Since he was coming up here, it kind of seemed like the right place to go.
GR: If you had a million dollars and had to spend it in a week, what would you spend it on?
BM: I'd buy a really nice house and probably a couple of cars. I'd be out pretty quick.
GR: Besides golf, what other sports do you enjoy watching?
BM: College basketball is definitely my favorite. I basically watch anything on TV. Baseball or football.
GR: What would you rather see happen - the Chicago Cubs win the World Series, the Chicago Bears win the Super Bowl or you get straight `A's' for one semester? BM: Well I'm not a Chicago Cubs fan, so the Bears winning the Super Bowl would be pretty sweet. However, I'm going to take the straight `A's.'
