NORMAL, Ill. – The nominees for the 2014-15 Jill Hutchison Female Athlete of the Year and Milt Weisbecker Male Athlete of the Year awards were announced Tuesday.
The winners will be named at The Reggies, Illinois State's annual academic excellence awards ceremony, on Sunday, Nov. 1. The event, held at Redbird Arena, is sponsored by State Farm Insurance.
Nominees for the Jill Hutchinson Female Athlete of the Year Award are Kaitlyn Early (volleyball), Samantha King (gymnastics), Regan Romshek (softball), Rachel Tejada (soccer), Jianna Williams (track and field) and Wenting Zhang (swimming and diving).
Nominees for the Milt Weisbecker Male Athlete of the Year Award are Anderson Devonish (track and field), Tyler Gentilella (golf), Jacob Hendren (baseball), Daishon Knight (basketball) and Tre Roberson (football).
Five other awards will be conferred on Nov. 1, including the Impact Award, Good Neighbor Award, Linda Herman Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award and Doug Collins Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award, as well as the Dr. Jim Johnson Phoenix Award.
