NORMAL, Ill. – A newly-installed $950 thousand dollar state-of-the-art video board system at Redbird Arena is set to go live this week.
Fans who attend the Illinois State women's basketball game against Chicago State on Monday, Dec. 21, at 7 p.m. will be treated to a preview of the video board during its initial dry run, following a two-week installation process. On Tuesday, Dec. 22, all features and components of the video board system will be unveiled at the ISU men's basketball game versus Tennessee State, with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
Funded by corporate sponsorships and approved by the ISU Board of Trustees, the high definition, LED Daktronics video board system includes a four-sided, center-hung video display and two ribbon boards.
The center-hung structure features four 15-by-8-foot video panels positioned above a 49-by-3-foot video ring. Fastened to the concrete façade above the north and south baselines, the two ribbon boards each measure 141-by-3-feet. Redbird Productions will continue to operate the entire Redbird Arena video board system.
"Our staff is very excited for the high definition displays and expanded digital space," said Redbird Productions Director Nick Helten. "The new video boards will enhance the game-day experience, better inform fans, and will be a great resource for our sponsors."
Similar to the Hancock Stadium video board, the new Redbird Arena displays can be divided into segments and allow for live game-statistic integration.
