Walter Camp Football Foundation Names Coprich All-American

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Illinois State running back Marshaun Coprich headlines Walter Camp's 2015 Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team, which was announced Friday by the organization.

The team was selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Football Championship Subdivision schools and certified by the accounting and auditing firm, Marcum LLP. One of three repeat selections from the 2014 list, Coprich adds his fourth All-America honor, after previously landing on the FCS ADA, STATS and Associated Press annual lists.

Coprich, a finalist for the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year Award, followed up a historic junior campaign in 2014 with another stellar effort during his senior season in 2015. The two-time Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the league in every rushing category and ranks No. 2 in the FCS in rushing yards (1,967) and rushing yards per game (151.3), and No. 3 in points per game (11.2). He helped Illinois State to a share of the MVFC title for a second-consecutive season and led the Redbirds to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons.

The Victorville, California, native rushed for over 100 yards in 10 games in 2015 and had four games with over 200 yards rushing, including a stretch of three-straight 200-plus yard efforts from Nov. 14 to Dec. 5. He finished his illustrious career with 5,201 rushing yards, second most in MVFC history behind Zach Zenner of South Dakota State, and scored 60 career touchdowns.

In all, players from 10 different conferences and 23 institutions are represented on the 2015 Walter Camp FCS All-America team.  The Big Sky Conference had the most selections with eight, while the Southern Conference had four, and Missouri Valley Conference had three.

Walter Camp, "The Father of American Football," first selected an All-America team in 1889. Camp, a former Yale University athlete and football coach, is also credited with developing play from scrimmage, set plays, the numerical assessment of goals and tries and the restriction of play to eleven men per side. The Walter Camp Football Foundation, a New Haven based all-volunteer group, was founded in 1967 to perpetuate the ideals of Camp and to continue the tradition of selecting All-America teams for the Football Bowl and Championship subdivisions.
