Coach Emanuel Speaks at the Central Illinois Track and Field Coaching Clinic

TOLONO, Ill. – Sprinter, hurdles, and relays coach Brenton Emanuel will be a key speaker at the 2016 2nd Annual Central Illinois Track and Field Coaching Clinic on Sat. 16 at Unity High School, Tolono, Illinois.

Coach Emanuel will represent the sprints panel, along with Tim Gateley, who is the head coach of track and field at Unity High School.

There will be several different panels of speakers presented on Saturday. Patrick Striegel and Jeff Kyle will touch base on building a successful MS program. Striegel is the head boy's track and field coach at Unity Jr. High School and is an assistant football coach at Unity High School. Kyle is a retired coach that has 11 years of coaching experience.

Kara Leaman, Jason Retz, Todd Vohland, Doug Mynatt, Dike Stirrett, and Greg Walters are the six key speakers added to the distance panel. Leaman returned to coaching cross country at Unity after a ten year break. She had 13 previous years as a distance coach and under her guidance this year, the Unity girls cross country team won the 2015 IL 1A State, Sectional, and Conference titles. Retz is in his 11th year as a distance coach. Vohland just finished his tenth season as a cross country coach at St. Teresa High School. Mynatt is the head coach of the high school and eighth-grade cross country/track and field teams at Uni High. Stirrett was the cross country and assistant boy's track coach at Champaign Central from 1970-2003. Walters is the head boys' cross country/track and field coach at Centennial High School.

Stan Wienke and Todd Rork are going to speak on behalf of the throws. Wienke is the throws coach at Tuscola High School, and has been a throwing coach for 41 years. Rork enters his eighth year coaching and teaching math at Central A&M High School.

Registration cost is $60 per coach and will begin at 8 a.m. on Sat. 16. General Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. and will go until 1 p.m. There will be four session every hour.
