NORMAL, Ill. – Meet 6-foot-8, 195-pound freshman forward Andre Washington in this week's installment of Signed On: ISU Basketball Newcomers.
Washington was a three-year starter who averaged 17.4 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 3.2 assists per game as a senior in 2015-16 at Arlington Heights High School in Fort Worth, Texas. For his efforts, Washington was named the District 7-5A Defensive Player of the Year and he earned a spot on the All-District 7-5A First Team. Washington also played in the Tarrant County versus Dallas County all-star game and the Fort Worth ISD All Stars "Balling for Education" game.
As a junior, Washington averaged 22 points and nine rebounds per game and was named an All-District 7-5A First-Team selection, while earning the district's Rebounder of the Year accolade. The Fort Worth, Texas native averaged 15 points and nine rebounds as a sophomore, while receiving all-district recognition. Additionally, Washington averaged 10.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game with the Marcus Smart YGC36 2016 Elite AAU program.
