CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Ariel Michalek ran a strong race at the Illini Open, as she won the women's 5K with a time at 18:01. The men's cross country team also had a strong effort, as they won the men's 8K team title.
On the women's side, Grace Beattie ran a stellar performance, as she placed third overall with a time of 18:19. Ashley England finished in seventh place at a time of 18:42, followed by Phoebe Clowser in ninth with a time of 18:47. Lesly Rocha picked up 16th place at a time of 19:07.
Marcelo Burbano led the way for the men's team, as he finished 12th at a time of 26:20. Skyler Arthur finished second for the Redbirds in 15th place at a time of 26:26. Michael Cook (26:44) and Kimathi Johnson (26:50) picked up 23rd and 24th place, respectively.
The men's won with 35 points, followed by Bulter in second with a total of 46 points. Bradley finished third with 51 points. For the women, Illinois State finished second with 34 points, while Bradley finished first with a total of 27 points. Northwestern finished third with 91 points.
