Tournament Information
NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's golf team will wrap up the fall portion of its schedule when the Redbirds travel to Bedminster, New Jersey, to participate in Seton Hall's Pirate Invitational at the par-72, 5,902-yard Trump National Golf Club (The New Course), Oct. 28-29.
The tournament features a 36-hole stroke-play format, with 18 holes being played Friday and the final 18 holes Saturday. Both rounds will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT. Live stats will not be available, but complete results can be found at GolfStatResults.com
Fourteen teams will be competing in the event. Joining the Redbirds and the host Pirates are Albany, Central Connecticut, Creighton, Fairleigh Dickinson, Hartford, Hofstra, Lamar, Lehigh, LIU Brooklyn, Monmouth, Omaha and South Dakota State.
ISU will be represented by sophomore Caitlin Sims, junior Kiley Walsh, junior Abby Luchtenburg, senior Renee Solberg and freshman Paige Seiser. Freshman Morgan Savage will be competing as an individual.
Teams are constructed with five student-athletes, and only the top-four scores count towards the school's overall total in each round.
Last Time Out
The Redbirds concluded College of Charleston's Palmetto Intercollegiate Tuesday at the par-72, 5,972-yard Turtle Point Golf Club. As a team, ISU shot a 318 in the final round to finish with a 961 (328-315-318). Campbell rallied over the final 18 holes to win the 20-team tournament with an 879 (300-286-293), two strokes ahead of runner-up Coastal Carolina.
Sims finished the tournament with a 79 over the final 18 holes and produced the Redbirds' lowest score over the three days with a 231 (80-72-79). Walsh shot an 81 in the final round to finish with a 240 (80-79-81), while Luchtenburg also finished with a 240 (83-81-76), after producing the team's lowest total Tuesday with a 4-over-par 76. Seiser rounded out the scoring for the Redbirds in the final round with an 82. She finished the tournament with a 253 (85-86-82), one stroke behind senior Solberg, who finished with a 252 (85-83-84).
