NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics head coach Bob Conkling announced Monday the addition of three new recruits, who have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to compete for Redbirds gymnastics. Katey DiGiacomo (Tampa, Florida), Savannah Remkus (Bloomington, Illinois) and Cammie Topp (Martin, Michigan) will continue their education and gymnastics careers as Redbirds beginning in 2017-18.

State champion on balance beam at the 2014 Level 9 state meet … Eastern national vault champion at the 2014 Level 9 state meet … vault, balance beam, floor exercise and all-around state champion at the 2015 Level 9 state meet … vault and all-around champion at the 2015 Level 9 regional meet.
Conkling on DiGiacomo: "Katey is a talented young lady that is from the same gymnastics club as current Redbird gymnast, Brianna Barrett. Katey shows a lot of potential on all four events, and we are looking for her to contribute on the vault, uneven bars and balance beam. Katey has power and an elegance to her gymnastics that will allow her to do well as a Redbird gymnast."

Qualified for Level 10 Regionals in 2016 …  was second on balance beam, third on uneven bars, and fourth in the all-around at the 2016 Level 10 state meet … finished in fourth place on vault, balance beam and floor exercise at the 2015 Level 9 state meet.
Conkling on Remkus: "Being from a local gymnastics club, Savannah has been a fan of Redbird gymnastics for years. I was excited to see just how much she has improved in the last couple years and how hard she worked to earn a scholarship here at ISU. We feel that Savannah has a lot of talent and potential and will continue to improve during her senior year of high school and as a Redbird gymnast."

Qualified for state, where she placed second in all-around … qualified for regionals and Junior Olympic Nationals in 2016 ... floor exercise champion at the 2016 Level 10 Region 5 meet.Â
Conkling on Topp: "We are excited to have Cammie join the Redbird gymnastics team. She has a very bubbly and outgoing personality. Her power is evident on all four events, but she excels on the floor exercise and balance beam. Her work ethic, power and future potential was what we saw in Cammie that we believe will help both her and the team be successful." Â Â
