NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Athletics Department will serve as host to the 14th annual Taste of Redbirds on Jan. 21 before the Redbird men's basketball team takes on Drake at 7 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
The pregame Taste of Redbirds at Horton Field House will take place from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. Ticket pre-sales will begin at 3:30 p.m. on the eastside concourse of Horton Field House (Gates 1 and 4 of Hancock Stadium).
Admission to the event is free. Tickets for food and non-alcoholic beverage may be purchased for $1 at the event. There will also be beer available in the beer garden for cash purchase only, not tickets. Beer sales will end at 6:15. All proceeds from the event benefit the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund.
There will be 10 vendors at the taste of Redbirds on Saturday: Alexander's Steakhouse, Avanti's Italian Restaurant, Bandana's Bar-B-Q, Buffalo Wild Wings, Denny's Doughnuts, D.P. Dough, Famous Dave's, HyVee, Moe's Southwest Grill and Times Past Inn.
The Reggie's Kids Club Fun Zone will have three activities for children: Upper Limits, Zoo Lad, and Fun on the Run.
Alamo II will be on site for merchandise sales, including the Doug "The Jet" Collins commemorative T-shirt. Alumni Relations will also have giveaway items.
Additionally, families can register their children for an ISU Cheerleading Clinic during the Taste of Redbirds. The clinic will be in held the North Gym of Horton Field House from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The $20 registration fee includes a game ticket, pompoms, Papa John's Pizza dinner, and a halftime performance at the game.
