The Illinois State women's golf team finished up four-ball matches and singles matches earlier today at Venice Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida, at the Illinois Challenge against Illinois. The Redbirds fell by a score of 8.5-.5 to the Illini.
Courtnee Cossell and Caitlin Sims teamed up against Stephanie Miller and Bing Singhsumalee, while Abby Luchtenburg and Maggie Ambrose competed against Grace Park and Pailin Ruttanasupagid. The final match consisted of Kiley Walsh and Renee Solberg against Dana Gattone and Chayanid Prapassarangkul during the four-ball portion of the competition.
"Losing always hurts, but we were able to take a lot of positives away from today's matches," Sligh said. "Kiley fought hard and put us on the scoreboard. We had many others step up during step up during each of their matches, but weren't able to capitalize in key moments. I'm proud of our preparation for this event. We are hungry to keep getting better and raising this program up this spring."
The Redbirds return to action Feb. 26 in Rio Verde, Arizona, for three days of the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational.
