Gymnasts Hit The Road To Face SEMO

NORMAL, Ill. – Coming off a dual-meet defeat over the Winona State last weekend, the Illinois State gymnastics team will travel to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to take on Southeast Missouri State Friday evening. Competition against the Redhawks will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Houck Field House, for their Pink Up Night supporting breast cancer awareness.

"We are excited to compete against another conference school," head coach Bob Conkling said. "This will be the first time we see SEMO this season and are looking forward to the challenge."

The Redbirds took the win in last Saturday's meet against Winona State with a team score of 192.275, which was their second highest score so far of the season. Senior Amanda Mohler led the Redbirds and took first place on with a personal-best effort of 9.825. Sophomore Megan Knoernschild also won the uneven bars event against the Warriors with a personal-best of 9.775.

"We will have some new gymnasts in the line-up on each of the four events because of some recent injuries," Conkling said. "We are excited to see these new additions to the line-up and are confident that all their training will pay off. As long as the team stays focused and has fun, we should have a solid competition."
