MOBILE, Ala. – After carding a 3-under-par 69 in the second round on Monday, sophomore Zach Burry shot a final-round 67 Tuesday to move the Redbirds up two spots in the team standings on the final day of competition at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate at the Magnolia Grove Crossings Course in Mobile, Alabama.

The 5-under-par 67 by Burry was the lowest individual score of the day and helped the Redbirds to a final-round total of 285, tied for the fifth lowest tally of the day amongst a talented field. No. 4 Auburn won the tournament with a 22-under-par 838 (278-282-278), 14 shots ahead of Chattanooga in second place with a 12-under-par 852 (285-283-284). Â No. 2 Wake Forest rounded out the top 3 with an 8-under-par total of 856 (292-283-281).
"We finished the tournament with a strong final round, our lowest of this season, and we can certainly take some momentum from that into next week," head coach Ray Kralis said. "We knew we had our work cut out for us with so many southern schools in the field, and I am pleased that we passed a couple teams today and played to our seeding, considering we are coming off our winter break."
Burry's strong final round tied him for eighth overall individually along with Wake Forest's Will Zalatoris, who is ranked No. 6 individually in the nation. Â The Quincy, Illinois, native finished with a 4-under-par total of 212 (76-69-67) and was joined in the top 50 by junior teammate Kyle Meihofer, who shot a final-round 2-under-par 70 to finish with a total of 221. Â Freshman Trent Wallace also had a bounce-back effort in the final round, shooting par to finish at 224 in a tie for 54th.
"Zach performed at a big-time level throughout the tournament, and both Kyle and Trent made big contributions to our team effort today," Kralis continued.
The Redbirds return to action on Monday, Feb. 29, for a two-day tournament in Lafayette, Louisiana. Â
