NORMAL, Ill. – Six members of the Illinois State swimming team will travel to West Lafayette, Indiana, for a long course meters time trial on Sunday, attempting to qualify for either the U.S. Olympic Team Trials or the U.S. Swimming Summer Junior National Championships.
Laura Paskoff, Rachel Root, Savannah Rubocki, Courtney Taylor, Sarah Thomas and Kristin Verkler will represent Illinois State at Sunday's meet, hosted by Purdue.
Illinois State most recently competed at the Missouri Valley Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, Feb. 17-20, in Carbondale, Illinois. The Redbirds finished fourth as a team. Root and Taylor earned All-MVC First-Team status, while Paskoff and Rubocki earned All-MVC Honorable Mention honors.
The U.S. Olympic Team Trials will be held June 26 through July 3, in Omaha, Nebraska. The U.S. Swimming Summer Junior National Championships are set for Aug. 8-12.Â
