NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State senior gymnast Amanda Mohler was named Midwest Independent Conference (MIC) Specialist of the Week by the conference office Tuesday, for her performances on the balance beam and uneven bars competitions at meet last weekend against UIC in Horton Field House.
Mohler posted a score of 9.825 to win the balance beam competition, also placing first on the uneven bars with a score of 9.825.
"Amanda had another great weekend scoring our only 9.8 plus routines and placing first on both the uneven bars and balance beam," head coach Bob Conkling said.
Mohler, in her second week of being awarded specialist of the week, has been showing her strength as a gymnast earning her these awards.
"She is competing with confidence and showing just how good of a gymnast she has become over the past 4 years of her college career," said Conkling.
The Redbirds return to action Friday, Feb 5, at 7 p.m., in Denton, Texas in a quad-meet against Texas Woman's, Auburn and Oklahoma.
