Redbirds Finish Third in Quad Meet Against Texas Woman’s, Oklahoma and Auburn

DENTON, TX. – The Illinois finish third in Texas this past Friday with a running score of 191.975. Oklahoma coming in first with a running score of 197.925, followed by Auburn in second with a 196.825, Illinois State in third, and in fourth with a score of 191.550, Texas Woman's.

"We started on floor and did good with a final score of 48.575," head coach Bob Conkling said. "Marie Priest had the best floor routine with a 9.775, which was well deserved."

"Vault was not our best rotation," said Conkling. "We continued to make little mistakes, and we kept having off landings." Sarah Fisher had the highest score for the Redbirds on vault with a 9.700.

"We could have done a little better on bars as well," said Conkling. "Although, I was very impressed with Danci's bar set."

Freshman, Meredith LaRoche continued her success in her collegiate career placing fifth in all-round with a score of 38.500. LaRoche finished vault with a 9.550, uneven bars with a 9.625, balance beam with a 9.650, and floor exercise with a 9.675.

"On beam Demi started us off doing amazing," Conkling said. "Amanda had a stellar routine tying for second with a fantastic score of a 9.9."

The Redbirds return to action Friday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. The team will host the dual-meet in Horton Field House welcoming Winona State.
