The distance camp is designed to educate young runners on how to train smarter, while improving overall fitness and speed. The goal is to provide a fun and exciting environment for individuals and teams so they can learn more about proper training to optimize their peak performance. Instruction and training techniques will be provided by the Illinois State coaching staff and student-athletes.

The distance camp will run from July 17-20 with registration deadline ending July 1. The cost is $375 for individual overnight campers, while team overnight campers with four or more campers from the same team cost $350. The cost for individual commuter campers is $300 and $275 for team commuter campers of four or more campers from the same team.

The Illinois State track and field camp is designed to teach all facets needed to improve as a track and field athlete. The camp will cover a wide range of topics including technical, training theories, strength and conditioning and nutritional information. The camp will focus mainly on sprints, throws, pole vault, jumps and strength training.

Sprints will focus on the discipline of sprinting and hurdling, and the emphasis will be placed on technical fundamentals as well as the psychological aspects of training. Throw events will cover in detail the shot glide, shot rotation and the discus, while introductory stages will be taught in hammer throw and javelin. Pole vault will focus on the progressions and intermediate drills, along with video analysis. Pole vault will be limited to the first 20 campers that register and they are encouraged to bring their own poles. Jumps will emphasis on technical fundamentals of long jump, triple jump and high jump as well as mental training.

Track and field camp will run from July 17-20 with registration deadline ending July 1. The cost is $375 for individual overnight campers, while team overnight campers with four or more campers from the same team cost $350. The cost for individual commuter campers is $300 and $275 for team commuter campers of four or more campers from the same team.
