STOCKBRIDGE, Ga. –After two rounds of play at the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate at Eagle's Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Georgia, the Illinois State women's golf team sits in 12th place after shooting a combined score of 625 (314-311.)
After sitting in a tie for 32nd yesterday, ISU's Kiley Walsh jumped up to a five-way tie for ninth place following her round two performance. Walsh fired a second round score of 72, giving her a total of 149 (77-72.) Next on the leaderboard for the Redbirds is Renee Solberg who has a two-round score of 157 (77-80) and is placed in a seven-way tie for 42nd. Courtnee Cossell shot rounds of 82 and 79 giving her a total score of 161 after two rounds. Cossell and two other teammates, Abby Luchtenburg and Caitlin Sims, sit in a six-way tie for 57th. Luchtenburg shot a total of 161 with rounds of (81-80). Sims had rounds of 79 and 82 to put her two-round score at 161.
"Although we played a little better today, we didn't score the way we needed to," said ISU women's golf head coach Darby Sligh." Kiley had one of the low rounds in the field today, and we will continue to lean on her on-course leadership. Tomorrow is about gaining momentum. We must execute in a way we haven't yet this season. "
