NORMAL, Ill. – Capping a week-long thank you to fans and supporters, Illinois State Athletics will host a free screening of worldwide hit Star Wars: The Force Awakens on Friday, June 17, beginning at 7 p.m., at Hancock Stadium.
Gates to the stadium will open at 6 p.m., and moviegoers are asked to bring their blankets to sit on the turf (no chairs will be allowed) and grab their spot to watch the fan favorite on the Hancock Stadium scoreboard. Seating will also be available in the East and West bleachers of Hancock Stadium.Â
Released in December of 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the seventh installment in the epic and beloved Star Wars series.  The Force Awakens is set 30 years after Return of the Jedi and stars original cast members  Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher and introduces new characters from Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Lupita Nyong'o. Â
Produced by Lucasfilm and director JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions and distributed worldwide by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, the movie is rated PG-13. The film became the highest-grossing installment of the fan-favorite franchise and is the third highest grossing film of all time with a worldwide haul of more than $2 billion.
Hancock Stadium Movie Night concludes a week-long schedule of events that the Illinois State Athletics Department will host to thank the community for its support throughout the year.
