Four Redbird Football Games Set To Air On CSN Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. – Illinois State Athletics will continue to maintain its television footprint in the Chicago media market for the 2016 Redbird football season, after the program signed a new four-game agreement with Comcast SportsNet Chicago, whose regional television base reaches 4.9 million homes.

Comcast SportsNet, which is the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Chicago Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs and White Sox, is available on most cable outlets in the state of Illinois, as well as on DirectTV and Dish Network.

Redbird fans who receive Comcast SportsNet will be able to watch the 105th meeting of the Mid-America Classic on Family Weekend against Eastern Illinois, which is set to be played on Sept. 17 at Hancock Stadium. The game continues the oldest FCS football rivalry in the state of Illinois and the 13th-oldest at the FCS level, with the Panthers leading the all-time series, 52-43-9.

CSN will then televise both contests of a two-game home stand, which begins Oct. 8 with a Homecoming matchup against Youngstown State and an in-state rivalry matchup versus Southern Illinois on Oct. 15.  The final game of the four-game package will be the Oct. 29 matchup against South Dakota State.

ISU Director of Athletics Larry Lyons is appreciative of the relationship created and effort put forth by Comcast SportsNet's VP/Programming Greg Bowman to make these broadcasts a reality.

"The unprecedented success of Redbird Football over the past several seasons has brought a lot of excitement to the University and our fan base," Lyons said. "The ability to broadcast a package of games on CSN Chicago has been instrumental in sharing the story of our football program and the University as a whole. We have been fortunate to work with CSN Chicago to expose our fans, alumni and recruits to our success, and we look forward to providing more exciting games on CSN Chicago this season."

Bowman knows the value of Illinois State Athletics on Comcast SportsNet.

"Illinois State football, with their loyal and vocal fan base, is a perfect fit for Comcast SportsNet in our effort to be the leader in providing the best in local sports throughout our regional territory," Bowman said.
