NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's basketball program has named Jared Roane its new Coordinator of Basketball Operations/Video, it was announced Tuesday by head coach Barb Smith.
Roane comes to ISU from Akron, where he was a graduate manager and video coordinator for the last two seasons. His duties with the program included coordinating all of the squad's video needs, specializing in synergy, dv sports and fast model, as well as film breakdown and editing, recording practices and games, team playbook and film exchange.
"We are fortunate to have Jared joining our staff," Smith said. "His work with video far exceeds the norm. When we were interviewing for this position, Jared had the most creative, organized and fun portfolio. He is accomplished and driven in his work, is very professional and has a "team first" attitude. Jared is excited to be a Redbird and will be a major asset to our coaching staff and to our team."
Before returning to Akron, Roane was the video coordinator for Impact Basketball Academy in Sarasota, Florida, during the 2012-13 season, before being promoted the next year to a full-time staff member, serving as the Academy's Director of Operations/Video Coordinator.

Roane was formerly a practice player for the Akron women's basketball team from 2009-11. He earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Akron in 2011 and was recently awarded his master's degree in sports administration from Akron last month.
