NORMAL, Ill. – The Terre Haute Rex are just one game out of first place in the Prospect League West Division's standings, and Illinois State rising junior Jeffrey Barton is a big reason why.
Barton, a right-hander who has pitched for Illinois State the past two seasons, is 3-1 with a 3.00 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 48 innings of work this summer for Terre Haute. Barton has been particularly good of late, going eight innings in each of his past two starts, while limiting his opponent to just one run in each outing. Terre Haute won both games.
Barton scattered six hits and walked just two batters over eight innings, striking out two, in Terre Haute's 4-1 win over visiting Lafayette July 15. He followed that performance with eight more innings of one-run ball, this time striking out six, in his team's 8-1 win over Chillicothe July 22.
The native of Libertyville, Illinois has turned in four quality starts this summer, allowing three or fewer runs over six or more innings of work. He has not allowed more than four runs in any game this summer.

- Went 1-for-3 with a sacrifice fly, RBI and a run scored as Dubois County's leadoff hitter in the first game of a doubleheader July 23 against Madisonville.
Lucas Hall | Bloomington Bobcats | Midwest Collegiate League
- Currently 0-3 in four games, including two starts, for Bloomington after starting the season with the Springfield Sliders of the Prospect League.
- Owns a 5.75 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 15.2 innings of work for the Bobcats.
Ryan Hutchinson | Kokomo Jackrabbits | Prospect League
- Slashing .290/.414/.452 with 15 extra-base hits, 22 RBIs and 15 stolen bases in 44 games.
- Went 2-for-4 with a double, walk, run scored and an RBI in Kokomo's 9-8 win at Chillicothe July 26.
Danny Jackson | Madisonville Miners | Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League
- Owns a .221/.303/.265 batting line in 20 games played this summer.
- Has tallied three doubles, 11 RBIs and 15 runs scored to date with Madisonville.
Jack Landwehr | Lakeshore Chinooks | Northwoods League
- Currently 2-2 with two saves, a 3.17 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 12 games, totaling 17 innings on the mound.
- Pitched three scoreless innings with three strikeouts in a 3-2 loss to Kalamazoo July 24.
Owen Miller | Lakeshore Chinooks | Northwoods League
- Leads Lakeshore with a .269 batting average; has also tallied eight doubles, four triples and 17 RBIs.
- Matched a summer-high with three hits in a 3-2 loss to Kalamazoo July 24.
Connor Moroder | Dubois County Bombers | Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League
- Slashing .330/.374/.454 with six doubles, 17 runs scored and 17 RBIs in 37 games.
- Went 2-for-5 with two doubles, an RBI and three runs scored in Dubois County's 15-3 win at Paducah July 21.
Mitch Vogrin | Madison Mallards | Northwoods League
- Owns a 3.48 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 14 games, spanning 20.2 innings on the mound.
- Tossed a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout against Lakeshore in a 15-3 win July 26.
Mitch Weis | Bloomington Bobcats | Midwest Collegiate League
- Currently 2-3 in eight games, including seven starts, totaling 54.2 innings on the mound.
- Owns a 2.31 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, striking out 57 and walking 13 batters.
