NORMAL, Ill. – During Illinois State Homecoming week, Redbird fans can watch the 2016-17 ISU men's and women's basketball teams on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena for the first time at the annual Hoopfest season tipoff event, Friday, Oct. 7, beginning at 6:45 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m.
Hoopfest is free and open to the public, and the first 1,000 fans in the door will receive a free limited edition black Illinois State basketball T-shirt. Hoopfest will include a dunk contest, other basketball contests involving each team and an autograph session for fans. Parking is available in lots surrounding Redbird Arena.
Before tipoff, the 2016 student Homecoming court will be introduced and the Homecoming king and queen will be crowned. Following the conclusion of Hoopfest, a Homecoming bonfire will begin on the lawn outside of Tri-Towers residence halls.
