NORMAL, Ill. – After two weeks rest, the Illinois State swimming and diving team will return to the pool to welcome Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis University for a dual meet Friday at 6 p.m. at Horton Pool.
The team is fresh off its annual Red and White Intrasquad Meet, where the White team came out on top, 181-112.
Swimmers Rachel Root and Mary Katherine Tillotson won three individual events each, while Rachel Holm, Rayanne Muzzo and Savannah Rubocki won two events apiece, respectively.
"We are very excited to be hosting both Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis University," said head swimming coach Scott Cameron. "It will be a great opportunity for our athletes to race and dive against some good in-state competition and start our fall meet schedule at home."
The diving portion of Friday's meet will begin at 3 p.m. Head diving coach Phil Hoffmann is excited to face new competition. Â
"I am really looking forward to this meet. In my time at Illinois State we have never competed against IWU or Lewis," said Hoffmann. "With both programs right in our own backyard, I am very much looking forward to adding this meet. Our divers have had a great two weeks of training since the Red and White Meet, and are excited to compete."
Friday's meet will mark the second of five home meets held at Horton Pool this season, and will also feature competition between Illinois Wesleyan and Lewis' men's teams.
The Redbirds will split up next weekend, as some members will head to the Dennis Stark Relays at Notre Dame on Friday, Oct. 7, while others will travel to the Missouri State Invite on Saturday, Oct. 8.
