NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State track and field teams will travel to Charleston, Illinois, to compete in the John Craft Invitational at the Lantz Fieldhouse. The John Craft Invite is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. with the weight throw this Saturday. Track events are slated to begin at 11:30 a.m. with the 60-meter hurdles.
The Redbirds are coming off a strong effort at the Terre Haute Double Dual. Indiana State took home the Coughlan/Mallory Cup, as they scored, 156.5-145.5, over ISU. Derrius Rodgers and D'Jenne Egharevba had outstanding performances in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash, as they both won the events. Rodgers 60 meter and 200-meter times are leading the Missouri Valley, and he was also named the Missouri Valley Conference Male Track Athlete of the Week. Egharevba's 200-meter time is also leading the MVC.
Amanda McClain also had a stellar day at the Double Dual, as she won the long jump, 400-meter dash and the 4x400-meter relay. McClain is leading the Valley in all of her events. She is also a standout in the classroom as well, McClain was named the MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Week as she owns a 3.92 grade-point average (GPA) as a biological science major.
In the 400-meter dash, Ben Montgomery and Ashleigh Wilson are ranked second in the Missouri Valley with converted times of 48.95 and 56.16.
Other standouts to look out for this weekend, is the duo of Tyler Morse and Kyle Mattes. Morse is leading the Valley in the 3,000-meter run, while Mattes reigns second.
In the field, Morgan Keller is leading the MVC in the women's shot put with a mark at 15.14m (49-08.25).
