NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team returns to action Monday to compete in Dayton's Flyer Invitational, Oct. 16-17. The Redbirds will look to repeat their first-place finish earlier this month at the par-71, 7,055 yard NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
The tournament features a 36-hole stroke-play format, with 18 holes slated for Monday and the final 18 Tuesday. A 8:45 a.m. CT shotgun start starts play the first day, while groups are schedule to start the final round at the same time on holes one and 10. Live scoring throughout the tournament will be available at BirdieFire.com.
Eleven teams will be competing in the tournament. Joining the Redbirds and host Dayton are Cleveland State, DePaul, Eastern Michigan, Fort Mayne, Miami (Ohio), Northern Kentucky, Ohio, Ohio State and Wright State.
Teams are constructed with five student-athletes, and only the top-four scores count towards the school's overall total in each round.
The Redbirds will be represented by senior Zach Burry, junior Trent Wallace, sophomore David Perkins, junior David Rauer and freshman Andrew O'Brien.
"This will be our first time to Dayton and NCR CC South," said head coach Ray Kralis. "Competing on that track will be a real treat! We obviously have some momentum going in, but we know everyone starts at zero on Monday."
