ISU Swimming and Diving Adds Five for 2018-19 Season

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State swimming and diving team has added to its 2018-19 roster, as head swimming coach Scott Cameron announced the signing of five student-athletes to National Letters of Intent on Tuesday.

"I'm very excited to announce our five swimmers that will be joining our team next year," head swimming coach Scott Cameron said. "Everyone one of them brings something different and unique to our team, and they all will fit in well with our team culture. We are excited to have them join the Redbird family."

All five players will be eligible to compete at the beginning of the 2018-19 season.

The recruiting class includes (listed alphabetically):

Sarah Hein | Sycamore, Ill. | Sycamore HS

Cameron on Hein: "Sarah will be a great addition to the team. She is strong in the butterfly and backstroke events, and will be able to come in and make an impact right away for us. We are happy to have her be a Redbird."

Julia Kolar | Lincolnwood, Ill. | Loyola Academy

Cameron on Kolar: "Julie is a good up-and-coming backstroker that has some versatility to what she can swim. She will be able to make a difference for us in a lot of ways in the coming years. I'm excited to have her be a Redbird."

Julia Oostman | Hudson, Ill. | Normal Community HS

Cameron on Oostman: "Julia is a very good distance freestyler that will be joining our young and talented distance group. She can also swim some breaststroke for us, and we are excited to see her continue to improve during her time as a Redbird."

Haley Rivera | Springfield, Ill. | Springfield HS

Cameron on Rivera: "We are excited to have Haley join the team. She is a very versatile swimmer and has the capability to swim the IMs, butterfly and breaststroke events for us. I'm excited to have her be a Redbird."

Liz Thull | Lakeville, Minn. | Lakeville North HS

Cameron on Thull: "Liz is a strong butterflyer and mid-distance freestyler. She has the ability to make an impact in those events for us early in her career. I'm excited to have be a part of the Redbird family."
