ST. LOUIS – Illinois State all-time great Ashley Rosch was among 10 players named to the Missouri Valley Conference Volleyball 25-Year Team, the league announced Thursday.
The 2017-18 season is a landmark one for the MVC and women's sports, and to help celebrate the 45th anniversary of Title IX and the 25th anniversary of women's sports in the league, The Valley is naming 25-year anniversary teams for each of the league's sponsored women's sports.
Rosch was joined on the 25-year anniversary team by: Lindsay Stalzer (Bradley), Lily Johnson (Missouri State), Linette White (Missouri State), Jill Arganbright (UNI), Kara Galer (UNI), Molly O'Brien (UNI), Bre Payton (UNI), Shannon Perry (UNI) and Abbie Lehman (Wichita State). O'Brien received the most votes among players making the team.
A total of 47 student-athletes were nominated for the MVC Volleyball 25-Year Team. A voting panel of league and member school representatives
Rosch is Illinois State's first player – and only the fifth in the league history – to be a four-time All-MVC First-Team selection. She was named the 2014 MVC Tournament MVP after guiding the Redbirds to MVC regular-season and tournament titles. Rosch was previously named the 2012 MVC Freshman of the Year and a two-time AVCA All-Region selection.
Rosch finished her career ranking third in school history in total kills (1,609), fourth in total points (1,821.0) and eighth in total digs (1,272).
The 2017 Illinois State volleyball team (18-11, 11-5 MVC) concludes its regular season this weekend with home matches against Indiana State on Friday and Evansville on Saturday.
