NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State gymnastics head coach Bob Conkling announced the addition of two new recruits, who have signed National Letters of Intent (NLI) to compete for Redbirds gymnastics. Mia Quigg (Blue Springs, Missouri) and Sofia Iribarren (Madrid, Spain) will continue their education and gymnastics careers as Redbirds beginning in 2018-2019.

Conkling on Quigg: "Mia is a hard-working young lady both in her gymnastics and schooling. She is an excellent student and is strong on all four gymnastics events. Currently, her strongest event is most likely floor exercise with her great dance style, but I do believe that she will not have a weak event in college. We look forward to having her join our team next year and believe she will have an immediate impact on our team, both in the gym and in the classroom."

Conkling on Iribarren: "Sofia comes to us with a lot of experience at the Elite level of gymnastics. Sofia is a strong on all four events, but I believe that her strongest event right now for college is the uneven bars. She is a smart young lady with a straight-forward type of attitude towards her gymnastics and schooling. We look forward to welcoming Sofia, to our team, and to this new chapter in her life as a collegiate gymnast in the United States."
