RESULTS
NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's gymnastics team ended its regular season and sent its seniors out on a high note, as Demi Pas, Samantha Ward, Kristyn Bossle defeated Midwest Independent Conference foe Lindenwood 193.025-191.650 Friday night at Horton Field House.
"It's always hard to see the seniors compete for their last time at Horton Field House," ISU head coach Bob Conkling said. "I'm happy with how the seniors did. Samantha and Demi had wonderful floor routines and getting Kristyn into the lineup these past couple weeks has helped us a lot."
Freshman Gabrielle Cooke won the all-around competition with a personal-best score of 39.000, which was aided by career-high scores of 9.775 to place first on vault and 9.725 on bars to place fifth. She also placed first on floor with a score of 9.825. Sophomore Meredith LaRoche placed second in the all-around competition with a score of 38.700.
Along with Cooke, Ward tied for first on floor with a personal-best score of 9.825. She also tied for first with teammate Anna Marema on bars with a score of 9.775. Katherine Locher had a strong beam routine, where she placed second with a 9.750.
"Going into next week, we want an attack mode attitude," Conkling said. "We are going to work on cleaning up, pushing routines very hard and working on consistency."
The Redbirds head to Chicago next Saturday to participate in the Midwest Independent Conference Championship hosted by UIC, beginning at 2 p.m.
