NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will play its only home event of the season Saturday when the Redbirds welcome Bradley for the I-74 Challenge. A total of 20 golfers will be competing as individuals in the event, which will take place at the par-71, 6,915-yard Weibring Golf Club.
"It's always nice to host and compete at Weibring Golf Club because it is a great venue and we've had success here in the past," head coach Ray Kralis said. "While it is an individual tournament, this is a great opportunity to display our depth as a squad and continue building some momentum deeper into the lineup going into April."
The tournament features a 36-hole individual stroke-play format, beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. After the first round is complete, golfers will play continuously into the next round. Pairings will consist of golfers from both schools.
Illinois State will be represented by sophomore Trent Wallace, freshman David Perkins, junior Zach Burry, senior Christian Crabill, senior Austin Havens, junior Jason Marrs, senior Kyle Meihofer and freshman Trey Tussey.
Twelve golfers will represent Bradley, including two former Redbirds - Branden Mounce and Michael Mounce. Also competing for Braves will be Bobby Jacobs, Ethan Brue, Drake Bushong, Zach Jewell, Matthew Specht, Alex Ciaramitiaro, Charles Jahn, Yuan Li and Daniel Lensing.
Live scoring will not be available for this event; however, official results will be posted on GolfStat.com following the completion of the tournament.
