NORMAL, Ill. - The Illinois State men's golf team will be competing in Indiana's Hoosier Invitational beginning Saturday at the par-71, 6,813-yard Indiana University Golf Course, as the Redbirds enter their final stretch of the 2016-17 season.
The tournament features a 54-hole stroke-play format, with 36-holes being played Saturday and the final 18-holes being played Sunday, April 2. The first two rounds of play will begin with a 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun start, and the final round Sunday will start with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be available throughout the event at GolfStat.com.
Fourteen teams will be competing in the tournament, including three teams from the Missouri Valley Conference (Evansville, Drake and Bradley) and No. 3 Oklahoma State, who will be represented by three golfers. Also joining the field is host Indiana, Charlotte, Toledo, Oakland, Fort Wayne, IUPUI, Youngstown State, Western Illinois, Detroit and Valparaiso.
The Redbirds will be represented by junior Zach Burry, senior Christian Crabill, freshman David Perkins, freshman Trey Tussey and sophomore Trent Wallace.

Crabill claimed the I-74 Challenge last Saturday, which was a 20-player tournament at the par-71, 6,915-yard Weibring Golf Club that featured members of the men's golf teams from Illinois State and Bradley. He shot a 2-over-par 144 (73-71), one stroke ahead of Burry, and two strokes ahead of Tussey, who finished in a tie for third place. Crabill was in a tie for fourth place after the first 18 holes, before shooting an even-par 71 in the second and final round to claim the title. He was named the MVC Men's Co-Golfer of the Week for his efforts.

Illinois State returns to action April 10-11 when it travels to Columbia, Missouri, to play in Missouri's Tiger Invitational at The Club at Old Hawthorne.
