CHARLESTON, Ill. – Illinois State women's track and field team won the Big Blue Classic with a total of 194.50 points, while the tallied several event wins and personal-best performances.
Amanda McClain captured her second event title of the weekend in the women's 200-meter dash with a time at 24.07. Her time is leading the Missouri Valley Conference. Emily Cowan also had an impressive performance in the 200-meter as she finished third with a time of 24.77.
D'Jenne Egharevba won the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.91, which is ranked fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Ashleigh Wilson won the women's 400-meter dash as she ran an impressive 55.47 time, which is leading the Missouri Valley Conference. Wilson's time is also ranked 30th on the NCAA West qualifying list.
In the 800-meter run, Rayanne Wright placed second with a time of 2:11.80, which is ranked second in the MVC. Hattie Plumb also had a strong effort in the 800-meter as she captured a personal-best time of 2:14.92.
Phoebe Clowser had a strong season debut in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as she placed third with time of 11:10.58.
In the 100-meter hurdles, Demetria Anderson finished fourth with a time of 14.33, which is ranked fifth in the Missouri Valley.
The women's 4x400-meter relay foursome of Whitney Ward, Egharevba, McClain, and Wilson won the event with a time of 3:46.84.
Cowan, McClain, Charde Golliday and Egharevba placed third in the women's 4x100-meter relay with a time of 46.67.
In the field events, Sydney Laufenberg led the way for the Redbirds as she won the discus throw with a mark of 48.25m (118-03), which is ranked third in the Valley. Morgan Keller also had a strong performance in the discus as she followed Laufenberg in second with a mark at 47.57m (156-01).
Victoria Gruszka had a stellar performance in the triple jump, as she placed second with a mark at 11.31m (37-01.25).
The men's team finished fourth with a total of 88 points. Eastern Illinois won the meet with a total of 170 points and University of Illinois finished second with 156.50 points.
Derrius Rodgers had a spectacular performance in the 100-meter dash, as he ran an impressive 10.46, which is leading the MVC. His time is also ranked 13th on the NCAA West qualifying list and is the 22nd fastest time in the nation.
Justin Agustin, Jalen Lewis, Rodgers and Jordan Wilkerson won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:17.46, which is leading the MVC.
Dion Hooker, DeShaun Jordan, Wilkerson and Rodgers placed second in the 4x100-meter relay with at time of 40.99, which is ranked second in the MVC.
In the field, Anthony McRoberts won the men's high jump with a height of 2.03m (06-08.00), which is ranked third in the MVC and 28th on the NCAA West qualifying list.
