NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will travel for a midweek contest at Notre Dame on Wednesday at Frank Eck Stadium. The nonconference game with the ACC opponent is set for a 5 p.m. CT first pitch.
Illinois State (10-24, 0-6 MVC) returns to action after being swept by Evansville in a three-game Missouri Valley Conference series over the weekend at Duffy Bass Field. Notre Dame (15-20, 7-11 ACC) was also swept over the weekend, losing all three games it played at Wake Forest.
Senior right-hander Mitch Weis (1-2, 7.50 ERA) will get the start for Illinois State on Wednesday, one week after picking up his first collegiate pitching win after tossing three strong innings in relief against Illinois Wesleyan. Notre Dame's starter has not yet been announced for Wednesday's game.
Notre Dame plays Central Michigan Tuesday night at Comerica Park, home of the Detroit Tigers.
Wednesday's game will precede a three-game Valley series at Bradley for Illinois State. The Redbirds will take on the Braves on Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. at Dozer Park in Peoria, Illinois.
