Redbird Baseball Hosts Milwaukee in Final Midweek Game

The Bo Durkac Show

NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State baseball team will play its final midweek game of the season when it hosts Milwaukee in a nonconference tilt Tuesday at Duffy Bass Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Tuesday's game, and all Illinois State baseball games at Duffy Bass Field, feature free admission. The game will also be broadcast live on ESPN3.

Illinois State (11-31) will look to end a five-game slide when it hosts the Panthers Tuesday. The Redbirds were most recently swept in a three-game series at Wichita State over the weekend.

Milwaukee (16-25) enters the midweek game on a three-game winning streak after sweeping Horizon League foe Oakland in a three-game series over the weekend. The Panthers won the first two games at their home venue, Henry Aaron Park, before completing the sweep Sunday at Miller Park, home of Major League Baseball's Milwaukee Brewers.

Illinois State has tabbed right-hander Jeff Lindgren (0-3, 3.71 ERA) to start Tuesday's game. Lindgren has not allowed a run over his past four outings, spanning eight innings. Milwaukee will start right-hander Jared Reklaitis (1-2, 4.29).

Illinois State owns 22-6 edge in the all-time series with Milwaukee, although the Panthers went 4-0 against the Redbirds in 2016. Milwaukee swept a three-game series at Duffy Bass Field March 18-20, 2016. The sweep was capped by Milwaukee's 4-1 win in 18 innings on March 20, 2016, which marked the longest game in terms of innings played, for both schools. The Panthers also won a midweek game at Henry Aaron Park on May 11, 2016.
