NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State women's golf team returns to action this Sunday when the Redbirds travel to Canton, Massachusetts, to play in the Boston College Intercollegiate at the par-72 6,137-yard Blue Hill Country Club.
The tournament consists of a 54-hole stroke-play format, with 36 holes being played Sunday and the final 18 holes Monday, Sept. 25. The first day will begin with a 7:45 a.m. CT shotgun start, and the second day will consist of tee times from 7:00 to 10:06 a.m. CT.
The tournament field features 16 teams. Joining Illinois State and the host Eagles are Ball State, Brown, Elon, Fairleigh Dickinson, Florida International, Georgetown, Lipscomb, North Dakota State, St. John's, Richmond, USC-Upstate, South Dakota, Wagner and Wofford.
The Redbirds will be represented by senior Kiley Walsh, junior Caitlin Sims, senior Abby Luchtenburg and sophomores Paige Seiser and Morgan Savage. Junior Leia Atas will be competing as an individual.
"We are ready to get on the road and put all our training to work," head coach Darby Sligh said. "This trip gives us the opportunity to get out of our comfort zone geographically and compete against squads we don't get to see very often. To be successful we will need to lean on our seniors for leadership and have others get comfortable stepping up and executing."
Live scoring will be available throughout the tournament through Golfstat.com. On-course scoring will be updated every three holes.
Last Time Out
The team finished the Redbird Invitational Sept. 11 in fifth place, as the Redbirds carded a 931 (308-309-314) at the par-72, 6,035-yard Weibring Golf Club.
Seniors Walsh and Luchtenburg led the way for the Redbirds, as they both finished in the top 25 for individuals. Walsh finished in fourth place on the individual leaderboard with a final round score of a 2-over-par 72 (40-34), including a 2-under-par 34 on the back nine, and the tournament with a 6-over-par 222 (72-76-74). Luchtenburg finished her final round with a 7-over-par 79 to finish with a 234 (74-81-79), earning her a 22nd-place finish.
After posting an 81 in the final round, Sims finished the tournament at 236 (81-74-81). Savage and Tatum King rounded out the team scoring. Savage concluded the tournament with an 80 and finished with a 242 (84-78-80) and King finished with a 253 (81-89-83).
Seiser led the trio of individuals who competed for the Redbirds with an 82 in the final round to finish at 239 (80-74-82). Maria Jose Rojas finished with a 239 (82-79-82), after shooting an 82 in the final round. Atas completed her tournament with a strong round of 5-over-par 77, finishing at 239 (81-81-77).

The Redbirds will return to action Oct. 2-4 when they travel to Columbia, Missouri, to compete in Missouri's Johnie Imes Invitational at the Club at Old Hawthorne.
