NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Athletics Department will serve as host to the 15th annual Taste of Redbirds on Feb. 3, before the Redbird men's basketball team takes on Evansville at 3 p.m. on Doug Collins Court at Redbird Arena.
The pregame Taste of Redbirds at Horton Field House will take place from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Ticket pre-sales will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the eastside concourse of Horton Field House (Gates 1 and 4 of Hancock Stadium).
Admission to the event is free. Tickets for food and non-alcoholic beverage may be purchased for $1 at the event. There will also be beer and wine available in the beer garden for cash purchase only, not tickets. Beer and wine sales will end at 2:15. All proceeds from the event benefit the Weisbecker Scholarship Fund.New this year for Redbird fans to enjoy will be a trunk show, featuring local vendors selling officially licensed Redbird gear, including the Alamo II, Weibring Golf Club's Pro Shop, Ponella, and Jack Lewis Jewelers.
There will be eight food vendors offering a variety of items at the Taste of Redbirds on Saturday: Avanti's, Buffalo Wild Wings, D.P. Dough, Famous Dave's, Moe's Southwest Grill, Tony Roma's, Alexander's Steakhouse, Denny's Doughnuts. There will also be complimentary samples from Beer Nuts while supplies last.
The Reggie's Kids Club Fun Zone will have activities for children including Fun on the Run Inflatables, rock climbing wall from Upper Limits Rock Climbing Gym, and face painting by the Zoo Crew.
Additionally, families can pre-register their children for an ISU Dance Clinic that will be held simultaneously in the North Gym during the Taste of Redbirds featuring instruction from the Redline Express Danceline. The clinic will be in held the North Gym of Horton Field House from 12:30 p.m. until 2 p.m. The $20 registration fee includes a t-shirt, game ticket, Papa John's pizza dinner, and a halftime performance at the game. Local country/rock recording artist Dan Hubbard will perform the national anthem for the game.
