NORMAL, Ill. – Illinois State sophomore gymnast Gabrielle Cooke was named the Midwest Independent Conference Performer of the Week on Wednesday, following a strong individual performance last Sunday against Alaska Anchorage.
Cooke had scores of 9.90 and 9.85 from the judges, as she dominated the floor competition and won the event by 0.125. The Chicago, Illinois, native also won the vault (9.775) and all-around (38.875) titles at that event, and finished second on the bars and beam for the Redbirds. ISU picked up its first dual-meet win of the season with a 188.825-186.150 victory over the Seawolves.
The Redbirds hit the road this weekend to take on Big Ten foes Ohio State and Minnesota in Columbus, Ohio, on Saturday at 3 p.m.
